If you are a caregiver, this blog is a tool to help you possibly understand some of the trials and tribulations that you may be experiencing. For me, this is definitely an area of uncharted waters, and I am learning every day and want to share with other caregivers. If you have your own personal experiences, please feel free to share by adding a post. Picture is my Father and my Mother on the day of my wedding, March 22, 2008.

it's difficult to have patience with those who are only concerned with what's going on in their own sphere of life. continue to ask the L-rd for strength as you tend to your mother's needs. how is the hunt for outside help coming?
ReplyDeleteEven Job had bad days and wished he'd never been born on some of them, so we're in good company! Thankfully the Lord Jesus lived the perfect life we could never live and died to cover everything else we'd ever do wrong in this life...then said, it's finished! Hmph! I'm so glad...on the days when I feel my sins overwhelm me like a Tsunami I remember the Good News that He cares for me, invites me to throw all my cares on Him, forgives me completely when I confess my faults to him and seek His mercy. May He grant you wisdom as you seek helpers, too. You cannot take the place of God in your loved one's life. They also have to look to Him and trust Him, even through the help of others beyond you. You truly must have some time apart for your own mental and physical health as a human being, connect with other people of faith who will pray with and for you and lighten the load through their love, too. Remember, you are still grieving the loss of your father - and your mother, the loss of her spouse. This, too, presents a heavy strain on your souls and needs time and care to heal. Are you finding anything helpful to read at this time? I just Googled Christian care-giving in Sperry, OK and came up with this: http://www.eldercarelink.com/provider/listing/Elderly_Care_Home/Oklahoma/1/Sperry-OK

I have found a respite voucher program through DHS that may allow me to help pay for in-home help so that I can get out of the house and not feel guilty about it. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what I can find out.
